TAA40104 Certificate IV Training and Assessment Case study: Knowledge and application cluster

The preference of Sims Training P/L is for a knowledge and application cluster.

In order to cluster the required knowledge for the CHC30402 Certificate Ill in Children’s Services, Sims Training P/L analysed each of the units of competency to tease out common knowledge and skill for delivery purposes.

They then combined the analysis of each unit to gain a picture of the knowledge and skill required for the whole qualification.

Having clustered the knowledge and skills from defined units, these can then be sequenced appropriately for delivery purposes to support effective learning.

Many of the Council employees left school many years ago, after having completed Year 9 or 10. Since then, they have raised their own families, and worked part-time with the Council to supplement the family income.

While they are looking forward to the training being offered as they see it as an opportunity to have their skills acknowledged, and develop some new skills, they are a little worried about the formal demands of training. As one person said, it has been a while since they were in school, and they haven’t done any study for a long time.
